If Music Be the Food of Love....Sing On! Sing On!

Shelly O'Hara

Hello St. Ignatius Families,

My name is Shelly O'Hara and I am happy to be teaching music at St. Ignatius!

A little about myself...

My love for music began at the age of 3 when I would grab my favorite blanket, wrap myself up, and ask my Dad to play Bach's Tocatta and Fugue in d minor by E. Power Biggs. I can still remember it and nothing has changed. I still love to sit quietly and listen to music. Throughout my life music has always been my passion and first love. A day without singing for me is not favored. I pursued music as a career and hold degrees in Opera Vocal Performance from The Cleveland Institute of Music and CWRU, Shenandoah Conservatory, and Mannes College of Music, NYC. Though the stage is no stranger to me, nothing could be any better than being a mom and wife. When my oldest son was ready for kindergarten, I decided to step into the classroom to teach. I can honestly say I love every minute of sharing music with our creative young minds. I am quite blessed to have a balance in my life between family, teaching, and performing. My husband and I are both cantors at St. Ignatius and I am the Music director as well at St. John the Evangelist in Morrisville, Pa. I I am looking forward to sharing music with all of your children this year at St. Ignatius School.
